Taste Testing Protein Powders

We all know there are millions of protein powders on the market (well, maybe not millions but it seems like it!) There is nothing worse then buying a tub of protein powder, getting home and making a shake and it’s gross-Am I right!  So, today I am bringing you my favorite protein powders along with what I liked and didn’t like about each of them.

Whole Foods 365 Vanilla: this protein powder is hands down my favorite for a great vanilla taste.  It blends well, has a nice vanilla taste and no artificial flavors.  You can find this protein powder at Whole Foods.

 

 

Quest Vanilla Milkshake: this is my runner-up.  It is sweeter due to steavia.  It works great in baked goods and oatmeal.  When you are baking with it you can cut down on the amount of sugar in the recipe or take it out all together.  You can get this flavor plus lots of other ones at https://www.amazon.com/shop/ptwithlisa

Max Muscle Birthday Cake: this is the sweetest of the bunch.  Great for baking, you can remove all the sugar your baking recipe.  It has the most protein also at 29 grams per serving.  This one works well mixed with water or milk.  You can get this at Max Muscle Sports Nutrition located in Woodbury MN or call them and they will ship (651) 202-3322

Here is another recipe for this one:

1/2 cup almond milk

1/2 cup water

1 scoop of birthday cake protein powder

1/2 a frozen banana

Put everything in a blender and blend well.

 

Max Muscle Chocolate PB Cup: this one is my favorite for chocolate protein powders.  I like that it has 30 grams of protein per serving and it’s a great balance between chocolate and peanut butter-YUM!    It blends well too.  You can get this at Max Muscle Sports Nutrition located in Woodbury MN or call them and they will ship (651) 202-3322  Here is a recipe for this one

1 scoop of chocolate PB cup protein powder

1/2 cup almond milk

1/2 cup water

1 tsp peanut butter

1/3 of a frozen banana

Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth

Vega Clean Chocolate Protein Powder-this is a non-dairy protein powder.  It is pea protein.  Honestly, it does not compare to whey protein but if you can’t eat dairy this is one of the best tasting ones on the market.  It blends well but it is messy.  I would recommend this if you can’t have diary.  You can find it here: https://www.amazon.com/shop/ptwithlisa

PE Science Cafe Series-if you love frappes at your local coffee shop then you HAVE to try PE Sciences Cafe Series!  They are delicious and taste just like a frappe but without all the calories and sugar.  My favorite flavor is Caramel Macchiato- it honestly tastes just like a macchiato frappe from your favorite coffee shop.  LOVE IT!
